In week 2, to build on the previous week we were tasked with creating a product for the year 2050 - thinking anything is possible and what technology could look like in the future. My group of Matthew, Jordan, Chris and myself started off by mind-mapping current issues which could have technology solutions in the future. This included looking at topics like holograms, VR, bone scanners, AR and transport. The options with this project were endless which allowed full creativity to think outside the box and look at how things could be done without the logistics behind it.
We decided to go down the rote of food and how food would be created in the future. We looked at the concept of 3D printing food and how food could be completely different in future - less for enjoyment and more for nutritional value.
We looked at positives and negatives. Positives such as how it would have a longer shelf life, meaning bulk buying would be possible and therefore hopefully more affordable. Less meat eating would reduce cows and the methane gas released into environment, hopefully slowing global warming. Some negatives include the food prep time, but this could be started remotely, and the start up costs of equipment. We looked at how it would work such as nutrition spools being inserted into the printer, what kind of food it would be and if it is feasible - we decided it would be and would be an option in the future if food became more scarce.
