This week we had our first group meeting where we put our ideas together and came up with one list of collective ideas to research into for the next few days.

We discussed each of these ideas and then collectively did a quick bit of research into how they are already been used. My main ideas contributed were cancer and chronic illness trackers/reminders, so these are the ideas i am taking forward to research more into required components and existing apps along with their positives and negatives so we can develop a benchmark for these.

Joel, one member of our team did some initial field research with a friend in the health service. From this he gathered that in all departments there is a lack of realtime emergency notifications and patient data on hand easily. Along with this it could be useful for doctors or other healthcare staff to be connected via an app for communications. Joel's friend gave us an example of when patients suddenly need critical help or their vitals dramatically drop, nurses or other staff have to find doctors and therefore the response time to the patient is not as quick as it could be.

Key to remember in all of this that in healthcare it is time saved not spent that a successful app is judged on, as seconds saved can inevitably save lives. Efficiency is key.
