Digital Disruption, Future of Healthcare and Wellness

In ****2014, government of Indonesia announced a universal healthcare coverage program, where Indonesian can get free-of-charge doctor consultation and medicines. As much as it is excellent offline, we would like to bring the experience online by creating an app that will not only support this program, but also facilitate every Indonesian to a much more simplified access to healthcare.’

To understand the process of building a product for the healthcare sector, I looked at this article which showed the process of building AVA, product for digital consultations and advice. Although this research does not directly relate to our problem, it has things we can learn from their process and their thoughts.

Their Problems

The developers for this project completed a series of qualitative research into what people do when they feel sick etc, a lot of responses listed going to the drugstore, describing symptoms and receiving prescription free drugs. If these symptoms persisted for 2-3 days, they will go to the hospital and receive treatment there or get prescribed drugs.

Another question they asked was if the participants had a healthcare app in their smartphone, in the article it is stated that 72% of people asked did not use healthcare applications on their phone. Majority stated they contact doctor directly and doctors need to check health with tools only available face to face.

From their research they had three main issues with people visiting the hospital:

With these findings it allowed the developers to seek an opportunity to create an app that not only allows access to healthcare information, but also make them more aware of their health in general.

Their Project Objectives

After the research they decided to list some objectives to answer, these included:

In our project it is key that we list problems we want to solve and potential objectives that can be answered. Also could be useful to list required components which would make these problems/objectives achievable.
