In week 2 of module 301, we looked at content and how it can be generated by the client or sometimes as designers we can be asked to generate the content. We also looked at types of user generator content, such as twitter, facebook and youtube.

We moved on to look at content curation* and how it is similar to how people used to create mixtapes off the radio. It involves sifting out the important parts and sorting it in a meaningful way. Find it, organise it, then share it.

When displaying content, there needs to be a visual grammar established. This will allow everything to match, be consistent and easily understood. It should include text style, sizes and format. Icon examples and button examples that will be used and a colour palette. Creating this will make the production of my website a lot easier, being able to quickly and easily access all the resources in one area.

To finish, we briefly looked at Intellectual property and Copyright, looking at the difference between patents, Trademarks, Industrial Design and Creative Commons.

In our field of work, it is good to know what we can use to protect our designs or creations from being taken and used by someone else.
